ネジ込み型のFC/APCコネクタは、振動の多い環境や後方反射を抑制する用途に向けた設計がされています。 「APC」は「Angled Physical Contact」の略で、このコネクタにより2本のファイバの端面が直接コンタクトして接続されます。また、ファイバの先端が一定の角度に研磨されているので、端面における反射光がファイバに結合されません。 このFC/APCコネクタは、8°に加工済みのセラミック製フェルールが付いています。端面が適切に研磨された場合の反射減衰量の典型値は60 dBです。各パッケージには、ファイバーコネクタ用キャップとプラスチック製ブーツが付属します。当社では、Ø2 mmまたはØ3.8 mm補強チューブ対応のストレインリリーフブーツ(25個入りパック)と追加のダストキャップ(プラスチック製は25個入り、金属製は4個入りパック)もご用意しています。
また、コネクタ同士の接続損失の典型値は0.25dBと低くなっています。 ただし、ほかの種類のコネクタと結合すると大幅な挿入損失につながることもあります。FC/APCコネクタはFC/APCコネクタのみと結合させることを推奨します。 用途によりほかの種類のコネクタに結合させる必要がある場合は、ハイブリッドパッチケーブルのご使用をお勧めいたします。

Yes, these FC/APC connectors are mechanically capable of PM fiber terminations. In fact, we offer PM fiber patch cables with FC/APC connectors in our catalog at the link below. If needed, you may also configure custom cables in our configurator shown on the same page.

I have issues with a D50-FC/APC polishing disc which does not allow to fix connectorized FC/PC cables, which I want to polish at 8 deg.
I was wondering if the FC/APC connectors would have a different thread than the FC/PC ? I assumed this wasn't the case but by testing all my available patch cords and loose conenctors, I found only FC/APC connectors fit the thread of the disc, while FC/PC do not. Yet, they both fit mating sleeves (as long one combines PC, or APC only).
Key and slot combination are unlikely to be the issue, as they are all fitting in at least some distance.

(posted 2025-03-10 04:37:56.0) Thank you for contacting Thorlabs. FC/PC and FC/APC connectors use the same type of threading. That said, putting an 8 degrees angle polish on an FC/PC connector by hand is a relatively advanced polishing procedure, and doing so can also result in a non-standard FC/APC ferrule height. This could lead to issues when mating with other FC/APC connectors. I have reached out to you directly regarding this. bryden.quirk
(posted 2017-06-01 13:11:51.13) Hi i,m having some trouble getting reliable connections with these connectors the insertion loss seems to increase significantly if the connector is screwed on too tightly or too loosely
and is only acceptable with vary careful adjustment each time the connector is mated
This seems to happen regardless of whether or not a radius is polished onto the ferrule
I am visually inspecting the end face using an inspection scope and all-so using a Telesto OCT system to inspect for undercutting of the fiber.
Do you have any suggestions ? nbayconich

(posted 2015-07-30 17:53:06.67) Is it possible to buy the green or white fiber ferrule dust caps which are included with single mode fiber patch cords, instead of the clear plastic dust caps sold in packs of 25? Those which come with the single mode fibers have the molded attachment to the fiber, but these often break after extended us and we'd like to replace them. besembeson
