このシングルモード可変光減衰器は、デバイスを透過する信号光の減衰量を手動で調整することができます。 この減衰器は光ファイバ回路内で信号強度を精密調整する場合や、測定システムのダイナミックレンジを評価するため光信号強度を調整する際に使われます。調整ネジ10回転以内で最大減衰量となります。詳細は「減衰量特性データ」タブをご参照ください。
インライン型VOAにはすべて、Ø3 mmのジャケット付きシングルモードファイバーピグテールが付いています。VOAにはコネクタ無しとコネクタ付きがあり、コネクタ付きは2.0 mmナローキーFC/PCまたはFC/APCのタイプがあります。その他のコネクタをご希望の場合は、当社までお問い合わせください。
減衰器には、入射ファイバ光をコリメートするレンズが付いています。遮蔽用デバイスまたはウィンドウは、ビームのXYオフセット方向あるいは角度偏差を、ネジで手動調整できます(下記の概略図参照)。 2つ目のレンズは光を出力ファイバへ結合するために使われます。このように、指定した減衰量が得られるまで結合効率は変化します。
減衰量範囲
下記は、VOA630-FCの減衰量曲線です。 調整ネジを閉じた位置(光を遮断)から測定を開始しました。その後、調整ネジを反時計回りに1/4回転ずつ回して、減衰量特性を取得しました。尚、回転の方向を変えると、バックラッシュにより減衰器の位置に僅かなオフセットが生じる場合があります。

The PDL of the dual Band VOAs makes them unusable for my use case. The narrow band PM-VOA even exists for 1550nm but is not compatible with my setup due to the pm fibres. jdelia

The VOA's have holes in them, apparently to mount them. Do you have brackets for this purpose, to mount these onto breadboards? cdolbashian

The easiest way to mount this to a optical table surface would be with a universal base plate, such as the UBP1. I have contacted you directly to discuss other options. Yutong Feng

Regarding the limitation of input power (300 mW), where does it come from? The fiber FC-PC connector or the device itself?
So if I increasse a little bit the power (arround 500 mW) what do I risk more, burning the fiber connector facets or damaging the component itself?

 (posted 2019-05-02 09:37:36.0) Hello Joseph, thank you for contacting Thorlabs. The max power rating is limited by the connector to 300mW (due to the epoxy). At higher powers, you would run the risk of damaging the connector. The fiber and the components can take more power. boris.khoury

Insertion losses of 50% are for most application no problem in case of coupling problems. besembeson
