I'd highly recommend sourcing some Captive Panel Screws (https://www.mcmaster.com/captive-bolts/socket-head-captive-panel-screws/thread-size~1-4-20/) to increase mounting options for various elements.

Thank you for your feedback. The screws in the HW-KIT2 are made of 18-8 Stainless Steel (this information is given in the individual screw pages: https://www.thorlabs.com/newgrouppage9.cfm?objectgroup_id=5894). We will work on making this information more visible on the kit pages.

Hello. We are looking for a screw adapter from 4-40 to M4, as the cage bars have 4-40 screws and the rest of our system is metric. Do you have something like this? or do you have any advice to have this conversion? Thanks

Hello, thank you for contacting Thorlabs. We do not have a #4-40 to M4 screw thread adapter unfortunately. Our part number AE4E6M adapts from #4-40 to M6, if that might help for your application. Also, you can consider using our metric Mini Series Optical Posts (part number MS1R/M for example). They have the same Ø6 mm diameter as the 30mm/60mm cage rods, and feature M3 tapped ends. Typically our cage components will all feature #4-40 holes for cage rods, even if a metric product, so in case these alternatives won't work I will reach out to you directly to discuss your setup further.

Response from Bweh at Thorlabs USA: These are made from 18-8 stainless steel and are generally non-magnetic.

I think the large label on the front of the box should have the background color changed to match the ball drivers (yellow - imperial, red - metric). We use both and the boxes are easily mistaken fro one another in dimly lit labs while we align stuff. It also wouldn't hurt to have a similar distinguishing color on the inside so it is clear at a glance which box is which while open.

Please make a kit that contain screws with all the most common types of "inch" threads. It is not necessary with any tools, you sell separate tool kits already. I am sure a lot of European labs would appreciate such a product.

A response from Tyler at Thorlabs to melsscal: All of our balldriver sets contain the balldrivers needed for M4, M6, and M3. We have several options depending on your need. If you follow the Balldriver link near the top of the page, it will take you to a webpage with three options: TC3/M, BT17/M, and TC4/M.
